Volunteer Tutors' Duties
The Learning Source for Adults and Families Volunteer Tutors teach in learning centers throughout metro Denver. They support learning experiences and social interactions which lead to personal growth, pride, employment opportunities and a stronger commitment to family and society.
Description of Duties:
Volunteers teach students in small groups or one-on-one. They may to teach in adult basic education/GED preparation classes or English language instruction classes. Both daytime and evening sessions are available.
Time Commitment:
We request volunteers to commit to one or two sessions per week for at least one semester (approximately 15 weeks). Sessions range from two to three hours. Until volunteers are familiar with the curriculum and materials used at the learning centers, additional preparation time will be necessary, particularly at the ESOL learning centers.

Tutor students toward their educational goals; attend training workshops; maintain student folders.
Training:
All volunteers are required to attend tutor orientation and training as well as to observe a teaching session prior to placement. In-service training is held throughout the year and a free annual adult education mini-conference is held each spring. Volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend in-service trainings at their learning centers and other locations throughout the year.
